National Save Boating Week Event hosted by Flotilla 15-08
Fullerton, CA: The Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-08
invites SoCal boaters to participate in a North Orange County Community
Day event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9, 2009 at Fullerton Memorial
Airport, in celebration of National Safe Boating Week.
Boaters, along with beach-goers and other area residents, can learn more
about the men and women of the Coast Guard -- and meet members of local
police, fire and rescue agencies -- during the day-long fair. The event
will begin with a mock search-and-rescue demonstration, when a Coast
Guard HH-65c rescue helicopter arrives.
As part of the free event, supported by local rescue agencies and the
Coast Guard, the public can also see Coast Guard patrol boats and PWCs,
and talk with crews. Various agencies will have items on display at
informational booths -- and food, entertainment and games will also be
provided.
As part of National Safe Boating Week, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will
offer first aid and boating safety demonstrations, and on-trailer vessel
inspections. Boaters can also bring in expired flares for proper
disposal.
